AIWCM is a newly registered organisation that celebrates women's music making Iranian classical and traditional and contemporary music. We raise awareness of gender issues in music and support women musicians in their professional development.

The AIWCM/ACMFI wishes to build on the achievements of the past, encourage women composers and musicians of the present and develop a body of well researched, catalogued and preserved archival material accessible to students, researchers and performers in the future.

Sara Shahmohammadi was the Founder, professor Steven Henrikson the honorary chair and

as Secretary/Treasurer. Membership will be consisted of composers and musicians living in Toronto and all over the world.

The first annual general meeting will be take place in Toronto in 2012 , when all members of the board are assigned and eventually the association began to grow into a national organization as more members will join.
